Hey everyone,
This teaching I did just about 5-6 years ago, and the Lord keeps bringing it back to me over and over again. One day the Lord took me to Daniel and to John and the Holy Spirit showed me this… Lets dive in!
Daniel 6:23 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
23 Then the king was exceedingly glad and commanded that Daniel should be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no hurt of any kind was found on him because he believed in (relied on, adhered to, and trusted in) his God.
It has been really cool reading about Daniel. He shows us that an uncompromising and bold person that loves God can change a nation and have the grace and favor to do so! Daniel relied on his relationship with God and his commitment to God and was stead fast about it, that’s why he would never compromise God in anyway. He stood up for what he believed and he was not going to hide it. I want to break down what the Lord showed me in verse 23 but first I want to give a little more about what happen prier to verse 23.
Daniel was an old man around this time. King Darius set over 120 satraps (a provincial governor in ancient Persian Empire) who would be in charge throughout the kingdom. And over them were three presidents (commissioners) of whom Daniel was one of three.
Daniel was distinguished about the presidents and the Satraps because of his spirit of excellence and the King thought to set him over the entire Kingdom!
But the presidents and satraps sough out to accuse Daniel concerning the kingdom, but they could find nothing on him – except his relationship with his God.
The presidents, deputies, satraps, the counselors and the governors came together and consulted and agreed that King Darius should make a royal statue and a firm decree that whoever ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, except the King, would be cast into the lions den. The King signed and agreed. Due to the law of the Medes and Persians this could not be altered.
When Daniel knew of this he went into his house, and where his windows were opened toward Jerusalem, he got down on his knees three times a day and prayed to God – like he had done everyday before this. But Daniel was seen doing this and was taken to the King, the King was distressed over what Daniel had done. That night the King commanded Daniel to be cast into the Lions den not because he wanted to but the law bound him. Darn that law. The king didn’t sleep any that night and early he went to the den to Daniel, and he cried out for him. The king said to Daniel, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, is your God, Whom you serve continually, able to deliver you from the lions?”
Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever!
My God has sent His angel and has shut the lions’ mouths so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent and blameless before Him; and also before you, O king, [as you very well know] I have done no harm or wrong.”
Then the king was exceedingly glad and commanded that Daniel should be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no hurt of any kind was found on him because he believed in (relied on, adhered to, and trusted in) his God.
Because of Daniel his King started serving God and made the kingdom a kingdom that serves Daniels God! Daniel changes a Nation because he wasn’t influenced by the world but he influenced the world!
What I want to talk about is how verse 23 is worded in the Amplified bible:
“he believed in (relied on, adhered to, and trusted in) his God.”
I thought hey! That’s interesting! I recalled reading the same thing over in John when Jesus says to Believe in God but also in Him (Jesus) but it was worded: Believe in, rely on, adhered to and trust in. That same word here in verse 23 is “Aman” find what I could find. And its means: “ Believe in, relied on, adhered to, and trust in.” So I went about looking each one of those words up and the Lord showed me some very good stuff that He wants me to share!
The Word Believe here in verse 23 and over in John:
“Rely on”
“Rely on” means in a time of need or trouble you go right to that person or thing you rely on. Something you put your trust in. God wants us to put Him first in everything. Daniel relied on God and put him first in his life and it showed in verse 10: “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house, and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he got down upon his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.”
“Adhered to”
“Adhered to” means to become joint to, united with, devoted to.
Here is an example of Daniel showing us this in verse 21:
“Then Daniel said to the king, O king, live forever!
22 My God has sent His angel and has shut the lions’ mouths so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent and blameless before Him; and also before you, O king, [as you very well know] I have done no harm or wrong.”
God longs for a relationship with us. He wants us to be in the know of what His awesome plans are and how He thinks but that takes a relationship with God. How do you have a relationship with someone? Come on you know this… By spending time with God! Daniel spent time with God and knew him-that’s why he believed in him, replied on him, and in verse 22 he was adhered to him that is how he could see and know what the Lord did to protect him from the Lions because he was untied with God and devoted to Him.
“Trust in”
To “trust in” here means to have a firm belief in someone or something. (faith in God takes trust because faith is complete trust)
Daniel trusted in God and found rest in that.
Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
But if you don’t know God than you wouldn’t trust for Him to come through on your behalf. Daniel knew God personally and therefore trusted in Him completely.
With Daniels relationship with God, God gave him Favor, Prosperity, Protection and Influential Power over the Nation and the World.
The Lord showed me this in the word “Believe” we must Put God first in our lives to believe and trust in Him for everything. Like Daniel God wants us to have Favor, Prosperity, Protection and Influential Power over the Nation and the World. Don’t compromise to the World. It takes people to make a difference but if the Christian people aren’t relying on, adhering to and trusting in God but always compromising, hiding or looking the other way than you can not be like Daniel because he influenced the people around him – through his relationship with God. God promises these things to us – those who BELIEVE (reply on, adhere to. And trust in.)
God promises us great things; we are healed: Yes!!! HEALED because of Jesus we were healed! So don’t tell me its “Gods will” for a sick child, or a couple to not have children, or to be unemployed or whatever it may be because if you BELIEVED in GOD (rely on, adhered to, and trust in), then He will as promised come through for you. Remember what Christ did on the cross for us.
He took our sin, our shame so that we could be forgiven and reconciled with God. No more “wrath of God” thinking. No more “I’m not good enough” mentality, Jesus defeated the powers of darkness!!!!! And He gives us all authority over the enemy! Those who BELIEVE in GOD and JESUS CHRIST!!! Hallelujah, thank you Jesus! This excites me so much! We are what limit God, it’s our doubt and will that get in the way of Gods wondering working power in and through our lives! I encourage you for yourself to know God, BELIEVE in, Adhered to, Reply On and Trust in Him in all areas of your life because the more you know God the more you’ll see His perfect Will for your life!!!
Faith in God is relying on HIM, believing in HIM, trusting in HIM, and adhering to HIM, HIS WORD, HIS SPIRIT! So many believers say they do believe and that they have faith in God, but your actions say otherwise. Think about it – really. We all would have complete faith in God when we are replying on, trusting in and adhering to HIM. Who are you putting your faith into today? God? Man? the world? because your actions point to where you are relying on and trusting in and adhering too. God is calling us to be like Daniel!
