Christ is Preached to an Ethiopian: “26 Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert. 27 So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, 28 was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. 29 Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.”30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. 32 The place in the Scripture which he read was this:“He was led as a sheep to the slaughter;And as a lamb before its shearer is silent,So He opened not His mouth.33 In His humiliation His justice was taken away,And who will declare His generation?For His life is taken from the earth.”34 So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?” 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. 36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”37 Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.”And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. 39 Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. 40 But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea.”
Who are you listening to, and What are you running towards? Think about it? If we all were as competitive or passionate like we are with our businesses, hobbies, jobs, and with each other, but be competitive to be the first to reach all that are lost to be competitive to GO after the Call God has placed on every one of us…Where would we be? We are all called to the great commission that wasn’t just for the apostles, Jesus was saying it was for all of us! Let’s read Matthew 28:16-20 The Great Commission : Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Where Jesus Christ urges his apostles to make “disciples of all the nations”, The word “disciple,” which is “Mathetes” in Greek, literally means “pupil”, but also “follower,” as in “follower of Jesus.” So it wasn’t just for Jesus’ disciples and apostles, but for everyone that calls themselves Christ followers to go and do the great commission! Therefore GO! Powerful, Powerful! And Phillip was not even one of the Apostles and he went off doing the Great commission! :) What can you not do in life really? Build the Army of God, suited up in God’s very own armor given to us, we’re the body of Christ. Ephesians 6:10 talks the armor of God. The devil wants you NOT to know these things because YOU HAVE ALL POWER OVER HIM! but if he can keep you in the “dark”, not knowing, or believing religious lies, and if he can keep manipulating God’s word, and controlling culture, keeping you from Jesus, then he has all power over you. BUT JESUS! Are you following me? We are all called to be Apostles to Jesus and go and share the good news of Jesus and create disciples.
The world needs to know about the Good New’s of JESUS. We are no longer slaves to sin and death! There is a world of lost and hurting people that don’t even know what Jesus did for them and what power, and position they hold now because of it. We are God’s children. That is huge! The bible tells us the Devil is under our feet, if you don’t know that then you will always be under his feet. God loves us to much, so He gave us Jesus. Jesus took our place. so that we could reconcile with God and take our place as children of the most high God and the devil can no longer have any power over us! (Ephesians 1:21-23)
When Adam and Eve sinned they traded their place with the Devil and that wasn’t God’s will for people. But the bible says the serpent deceived Eve, and that Adam knew he was sinning. It isn’t all Eves fault. The Devil comes to STEAL, KILL and DESTROY. The bible tells us he is like a lion looking for whom he can devour!
When we read over in (after Jesus ascended to Heaven, and after the Holy Spirit came upon them) Acts 8:26-40 it talks about Phillip the Evangelist, he was sent by an Angel of the Lord to go, he was sent and to go a specific way, and it was a long, lonely, and uncomfortable journey to reach a outcast of a person that was rejected by society, he was a eunuch likely castrated as a small child, few were born with this, it’s a symbol of slavery really. At that time he would not of been able to even attend “church/temple” if he wanted too. Don’t you feel for him? He was a slave, in a high position, but still a slave. We are all been slaves until JESUS came and set up free. This eunuch – Who would reach him really, if it wasn’t Phillip that heard the call from the spirit, and went? probably no one. honestly. That’s how important YOU are to the body of Christ.
I remember the compassion of Christ come from within me to pray for a woman that looked like she was on deaths door almost, and I wasnt sure if I was going to approach her and I heard the Spirit say to me, “If you do not go to her, no one else will!.” I went and prayed for her and she was healed and I was able to minister to her and give her a few words of knowledge and so forth. But that is how important we are! The world needs you. We cant be sitting back and waiting for everyone else to step up and do it, its on us.
But when the SPIRIT of the Lord said to Phillip: “GO”,
